Richard Foster writes:A long, long time ago, in a Galaxy far, far away... well, last night in West Ham, anyhow. With Disney’s surprise purchase of Lucasfilm and the possibility of six more films in the Star Wars franchise, it was with great excitement that four existing and one new Good Gym member headed out from the Memorial playing fields on another mission to save the planet from evil (brambles... that were actually described as ‘dangerous’ in the pre-mission briefing!!!)A swift 3.5k run brought us to an overgrown path on a main road in Tower Hamlets where the ever-bubbly Sam was waiting for us with her trolley of high-vis jackets, gloves and mean looking shears. Sam indicated a stretch of the pavement that she hoped we could clear in our allocated 20 minute activity time and we set to work cutting and bagging the offending matter.Within ten minutes we had already reached the target area and were soon beyond, completing the entire stretch in record time. Evil had once again been defeated by the GG Vanguard and the Universe was once more in balance as we headed back (with Mark showing us the sights of the West Ham gasworks en route!).All in all, a fun, friendly and successful run. However, the dark side (of East London) is rising up once more and with our numbers depleted, the Vanguard Alliance might fail to defeat these evil nemeses. I.e. please join us next week to boost our numbers and help us get even more ‘Good’ done on the West Ham runs!Hopefully see you there. May the Force be with you (OK, I’m finished now!)
