Group run

shovelling in Newham

0 GoodGymers made their way 5km to help their local community in West Ham.

Last night we hit the streets of Newham, running from Memorial Recreation Ground near West Ham to a community growing project by Plaistow Tube.  We ran through the park and crossed the Greenway to follow a route parallel to the railway.  Immediately on arrival, we spent 37 minutes shovelling compost into wheelbarrows and filling its rightful storage area at the edge of the garden, and took just 6 minutes to do a full sweep up and get the tools away. After we'd said good bye to Alison, who runs the growing project, we started our return leg to Memorial Recreation Ground. We took a longer route west following the railway and then south east on the Greenway to skirt the edge of the cemetery and enter the park through the south gate.  A few sprints between various markers in the park ensured that everyone had had a good and varied work out.
