Standing in a compost heap in the pouring rain on a dark September evening, what’s not to love?!

4 staff members from Mishcon De Reya were not put off by the conditions last night and came out to run and help support Oasis Waterloo Farm.

Oasis Waterloo is an urban farm in the heart of London Waterloo. It was transformed from a strip of wasteland into a flourishing community resource and a haven for nature. They specialise in working with disadvantaged young people, helping them to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Everyone last night was new to GoodGym so we started off by chatting about all the ways to get involved before heading out into the rain for a lovely refreshing run over Waterloo Bridge. We all agreed it was invigorating and not as bad as you think when you're stood in the dry.

Once you're wet, it doesn't matter!

We were met by Sara at the farm who was there to welcome us with wellies and overalls to keep the worst of the mud off before throwing us into the task, there was no beating around the bush, this was a hard mucky job! Everyone got stuck straight in and wasted no time in jumping into it (literally!). We climbed into the compost heaps and got shoveling, our task was to turn as much as we could in the time we had available, moving all the contents from one piles into another. This makes the compost richer and better to use in the farm!

Not the most glamorous job but definitely a lot of fun and a great workout! Well done to everyone last night for braving the conditions and throwing yourself into the full GoodGym experience!

"If it's this much fun in this weather, imagine how fun it is the rest of the time!"

Great feedback and couldn't agree more!

After we'd ditched the overalls and packed up it was just time for a very damp run back and a few stretches before leaving the girls to triumphantly return to the office!
