Date and time
11:30 - 15:30We have been invited to support Savera on this annual event. This year they have a march which will culminate at The Bombed Out Church where there will be a festival of culture and performance. Full details will follow but there will be various roles to fulfil throughout the day. Just drop in the comments a guestimate of what time slots you would be available (as much or as little as you wish - all offers of time gratefully received) so the organisers have an idea of how to allocate tasks.
Liverpool city centre Saturday 23rd November 2024 11.30am - 4pm Savera UK is a leading charity that works to end ‘honour’-based abuse (HBA) and harmful practices such as forced marriage, conversion ’therapy’ and female genital mutilation. These issues are often hidden, widely underreported and there is a lack of general awareness about them. Each year we arrange the “March to End HBA” a march through Liverpool city centre to raise awareness and help break the silence around these issues, with our ultimate mission being to end them for good. This year we will be marching from Williamson Square in Liverpool city centre, to Derby Square alongside Katumba Drumming and Movement.
The Task
We will be helping with marshalling and also litter picking at Derby Square, as we have to leave the area cleansed and free of any discarded leaflets after the event. We don’t anticipate there to be lots of mess left, but support is needed to leave the space as we found it! You can find out more about Savera UK here: https://saverauk.co.uk/
