Who this task will support
Shooting Star Children's Hospices
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across west London and Surrey. We’re here to make every moment count, whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months, or years. We support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional, and medical care. Our specialist care and support is free of charge and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We support around 500 babies, children, or young adults who have a life-limiting condition and their families, as well as around 200 bereaved families. It costs £10 million a year to run Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, so we rely on the generosity of our supporters to keep our services going.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families across West London and Surrey.

They are organising a Christmas Tree Collection service this year, and need our help to ensure as many people know about it as possible. We have been asked to post leaflets in the central Richmond (TW9/TW10 area). Last year around £16,000 was raised by collecting trees from the local area with 42% of people saying they heard about the initiative via the leaflets delivered. This year the plan is to raise over £20,000, so the more people who know about it, the better!

As this will involve walking door-to-door, please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. You might be surprised how many steps you rack up!

There are a number of these tasks taking place between Christmas and new year, with different starting points, please note where to meet and join others if you can!

You are welcome to join us for your first GoodGym task too, giving your time really is a very special gift!
