A final task to complete the efforts of volunteers last weekend when a new section of hedgerow was planted in Ladywell Fields, making this popular green space even more attractive for both people and wildlife, as well as increasing leafy carbon absorption to help mitigate climate change. Out of 350 saplings bought using a grant from the Tree Council, a few remain for filling in gaps in the existing hedge running beside the railway fence in the northern field, near the skateboard park.

If you’d like to help, please come and join the user group and local families -- meet at the cafe near Ladywell station at 10am or, if arriving later, follow the path south to find the team working on the hedge. We'll keep going until all the young trees are planted, hopefully by 12 noon.

Please bring gardening gloves if possible.
