The Life and Times of Mr D

Mr D went blind in the past few years, which means his brain needs to remember many things that we sighted people take for granted, like where the scissors or his historic stack of The Investor's Chronicle are located. Mr D wants to donate his collection of knowledge to a university in Africa to educate the students and today, the task was to find certain insightful publications and move them to the loft.

Top of Mr D's list of magazines to prepare were his historic copies of Time and the London Review of Books. Mr D knew where both should be. The Time magazines were in a filing cabinet and the London Review of Books was behind his bedroom door.

The Time magazines were exactly where Mr D described. Sevan found them contained in 3 drawers of the filing cabinet. In amongst them was 1 rogue copy of Life too. The London Review of Books on the other hand was MIA. Sevan searched around Mr D's bedroom and only found 2 editions, so where the rest are remains a mystery. Mr D remained insistent that they should be behind the bedroom door throughout.

Kash built 5 boxes to take the Time magazines, with both GoodGymers filling them, ready for their journey to the loft space. Flipping through the front covers was like a rapid walk through recent history that had since been quickly forgotten. The students who benefit from Mr D's trove will learn about:

• What President Obama thinks of Google
• The Beslan school massacre
• Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee
• What will happen (with the benefit of future knowledge) if Muammar Gadaffi doesn't quit as the Libyan leader
• ...and many other ex-current affairs

Next came the tricky part, getting into Mr D's loft. He'd ordered a step ladder before GoodGym's previous visit, which left a 1m plus gap between the top step and loft hatch. Like last time, Kash had the arm strength, so she lifted herself through the hatch and prepared to receive the labelled boxes.

With Mr D's Life and Times moved overhead and the other publication nowhere to be found, a stack of the International Herald Tribune was identified as the next candidate to be sent into the loft. These went much more quickly, probably as the front pages were less eye catching, with another 5 boxes safely moved upstairs, then Kash safely back on Mr D's carpeted floor.
