The Maidenehead Waterways Project aims to restore and enlarge channels through the town centre into an accessible waterway that everyone can enjoy, whether for boating, walking, cycling, fishing or appreciating nature.

We need volunteers to help at our annual Maidenhead Waterways Fun Day. This is our biggest event of the year with 4000 people attending for a host of free activities on or next to the water.

There are tasks for volunteers from 0800 setting up to 1600 clearing up. Even if you can just give one hour we would appreciate it.

Volunteers should report to the Friends of Maidenhead Waterways stall outside Bardo Lounge 4C, High St, Maidenhead SL6 1QJ (by the hanging bats statue).

Ask for Richard Davenport or Andrew Ingram.

Here is a snapshot of some of the tasks volunteers will be helping with.

Chapel Arches; Build the sound stage; place notices; set up FoMW’s stall, guide stallholders to their allocated spaces; launch Yorkie and other craft 8.00-9.30.

All areas 8-3: Assist the official Adams Park marshals setting up and manning the road closure area (The Bear to Coppa Club); guiding visitors to locations at the right time to see what they are interested in seeing; supervising the Mobile Farm by the Library to ensure visitors don’t spill into the road:

Library Area; Assist set up of Mobile Farm;

Boat trips from lower terrace of WQ from mid morning; Booking in, managing the queue, assisting with life jackets and boarding/disembarking.

All areas 10-3.00; guide visitors to attractions and timetabled events on and off the water, acting as ambassadors for FoMW and the overall event: All areas from 3.00: Dismantle sound stage, gazebos, help stall holders clear up:

Library/Amphitheatre 3.00-3.30: Help dismantle Mobile Farm and clear site. Litter pick.

Thank you! From Friends of Maidenhead Waterways.
