We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

The winter can be a tough time for families who need the help of their local foodbank. This February, we're partnering with WeRunEaling to hold our own west London version - we're going to one of our local parkruns and taking food donations from there to Ealing Foodbank!

The good people of Ealing Foodbank do an amazing job but they always need more food donations. Our plan is to make donations of food whilst getting active and supporting our local parkruns - it's a winning combo!

Here's the plan:

  • Grab an item(s) from February's Foodbank list. Choose something small enough to fit it into a backpack and light enough for you to run with. It doesn't matter what you choose, all donations will be very welcome!

  • Pop your food donation into a backpack (or something you can run with).

  • Meet 8.40am Saturday 8 February 2025 at Gunnersbury parkrun. Look out for the red GoodGym t-shirts!

  • Run/jog/run-walk/walk or volunteer at the parkrun. There'll be a bag drop so you don't have to complete the course wearing your backpack! If you've never done a parkrun before, you're in for a treat - it's a friendly, supportive community that welcomes people of all abilities. You can register here to run or contact Gunnersbury parkrun (gunnersbury@parkrun.com) in advance to let them know you'd like to volunteer.

  • Led by one of our GoodGym run leaders, you'll travel as a group at an easy pace from Gunnersbury parkrun to Ealing Foodbank in Hanwell - no-one gets left behind!

  • Drop off our food donations, meet up with the groups coming from our other local parkruns and smile for a group photo!

  • Retire to Momentum Coffee up the road for fantastic coffee and scrumptious cake!
