Spotting Spindleberries
7 GoodGymers made their way to help the Octopus Community Network in Islington.

On Wednesday evening, a top group of local Goodgym folks narrowly avoided an afternoon of heavy rain to join Frannie from Octopus Community Network and Area Activator Simon at Market Road Gardens. This ongoing permaculture garden project has been looking really lovely recently, and the plants certainly appreciated some much needed rainfall.
The tricky thing about wild gardening is working out how much curation we should introduce to the site, and how much we should leave to grown naturally. The space has become overrun with thistles, which started to push aside the other plants and bushes (including some new saplings). So our Goodgymmers picked up our forks, spades and wheelbarrows to filter a few to maintain a mixed and varied garden space. All the green waste was then moved to a hugelkultur bed towards the back of the gardens, ready to be composted for next season.
Wonderful work everyone! We'll be back again soon!

Good to see everyone working so hard in picture 11. Well, most people anyway.
