7 GoodGym runners stepped in for the Friends of Marconi Ponds
We met at the usual location to wish a belated Happy Birthday to our resident angel, Rachel, and pondered why Anton had been unable to join us. Rumours are of a playboy lifestyle but that doesn't sound like our chap. We all grabbed a litter picker to do our own version of the Bat-symbol to see if the call would work. Alas, it did not.
We set off in the humid weather with Doug leading out. Down the high street, via Bell Meadow, through the park we arrived at the Marconi Ponds nature reserve. The ponds are an area of natural beauty and the monthly volunteer day doesn't take place in August so the litter can build up, that is where we step in. We managed to find quite the haul. Of course GoodGym is also about having fun as well as doing good, so Laurie downed a few bottles of fine Scotch whisky, Joel welcomed us to the gun show, Andy did, well I won't say what he did as it will haunt me for life anyway and Charlotte dazzled us with her gymnastic ability.
We jogged back a rather roundabout route to boost our August k's and made it back perfectly to schedule, with five seconds to spare. All in all, a good night's good deeding and running.
Shame that Catherine couldn't make it this evening, but fear not, we have the KFC party to look forward to this Saturday 10th August. Email me for details! See you there!
