Weeding frenzy
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hounslow.
- Saturday, 29th of September 2018
Fresh from smashing two new PBs at Gunnersbury Parkrun beforehand, Andy and Tatty made the 4km run over to Mrs M's house in Isleworth. Mrs M had previously been a very keen gardener (and won local awards for her garden!) - but due to declining health was no longer to stay on top of it.
No problem - that's the kind of thing GoodGym Hounslow is here for! The main task facing us was the front garden: this summer's drought had scorched all of the lily plant in the sun, and the only ones left were clustered in the shade of the house. Now the weather is a bit cooler, we were ready to dig some of these up, and redistribute them to the spots that had been in direct sunlight had been.
In between carefully transporting the plants to their new home, we worked our magic on the rest of the garden; weeding the flower beds, clearing the path, and spraying weedkiller on the cracks in the patio.
After a hard morning's work, we left a happy Mrs M to enjoy her new outlook, and headed back towards Chiswick!
