Weed don’t need no trepidation, weed just need some fork control
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Bristol.
- Saturday, 1st of May 2021
It was an absolute delight to give Mrs J a hand in her garden this morning. Having to look after her husband who is sadly struggling with dementia, she does what she can in the garden, which she regards as her haven, but can’t manage some of the heavier work.
So I was pleased to help by grabbing a fork and clearing the weeds from a border, so that Mrs J can grow a few nice flowers within a rockery, as well as moving a tub round to the front of the house and filling it with compost so that she can grow some lillies there.
Replacing some heavy plant pots back to where they had been moved from so that she could get the grass cut, there was just time to take down some hanging baskets and put them in a convenient spot for her to work through.
It was great to be able to have a good old natter with Mrs J while I worked away, stopping only to gratefully slurp some tea and munch a couple of choccie biccies.
Mrs J’s hubby also popped out briefly to give me a thumbs up which really made my day.
We should never doubt the impact that some of these seemingly straightforward forward tasks can have on the people that we do them for 😊
