We're (weed)-ing in the rain
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Oxford.
- Thursday, 27th of August 2020
2 runners, Ben and Alice, ran to Cowley to do some weeding for Mrs S and her husband. While the sun had been shining in the morning, just as the task began so too did the rain! Both runners were however well equipped with high vis-water proofs, masks and gloves, and the rain in fact made pulling the weeds from their roots somewhat easier than if the soil was dry!
While Ben tackled the back, I tackled the front garden & I'm pretty sure I heard a merry tune or two coming from Ben in the back as he embraced weeding in the rain......Didn't see any dance moves though!
We completed the task in around 1.5h, with a good understanding of how they had originally hurt their backs trying to complete the task themselves! With high compliments and endless generosity from Mr& Mrs. S, we signposted how to get a short followup task booked in due to the rain preventing us from laying the weed killer.
Hopefully, we will be back to see Mr & Mrs. S soon to finish the task and prevent those pesky weeds from returning anytime soon. Forgot to grab a photo of our hard work, so stay tuned for some pictures in the not too far future!
