We caned, we sawed, we de-suckered
6 GoodGymers made their way to help the Malago Berry Maze in Bristol.

Nature doesn’t stop whilst we’re in Lockdown 2 and today we were helping at the Malago Berry Maze where they needed some old wires and posts taken out, this summer’s canes cut back to ground level for SOME of the raspberries, leaving the new growth and ALL of some other raspberries. Quite a differentiation challenge for GoodGymmers, so we split into socially distanced pairs specialising in one type of raspberries. We even found some raspberries to munch, and didn’t stand on the baby lavendars and rosemary having marked them with bamboo canes from the established rasoberry plants!
Sarah even gets to start her own raspberry farm by re-housing one of the suckers dug up by Darren. Russ enjoyed it more than you'd think from the photo and Alice and Melanie had a good catch up whilst working out what was old and new canes.
Meanwhile, Jason was getting some pesky weeds out of the beds so they can be mulched over winter meaning we could easily acheive full social distancing and could leave a new set of tasks ready for the second band of GGers to arrive 15 minutes after we’d left. In the dry. When it just started raining...
