More leaflets this week and quite a bit of rain too. Fortunately the worst of the wet came as we were running back to the Stadium following the task, so at least we managed to get the tasks done without the leaflets getting too soggy.

Just 4 GoodGymmers this week, David Bilton, Meg Deacon, Wendy Redmire and myself braved the warm but wet conditions for the run to Dalton & Rawthorpe Library. By the time we compleated the 3K run to the library Paula Wood from S2R the local mental health charity was ready and waiting with a trolley of newsletters neatly (and thoughtfully) organised into waterproof folders. The newsletters are the product of a community project run by local volunteers designed to promote the library and community activities in the area and simply needed posting through local doors.

Not a problem for GoodGym Huddersfield’s experienced leafletters, and we were soon off running through the streets popping them through the Dalton doors. In fact we were so efficient we ran out of newsletters after just 35 minutes and had to return to the library for some more. Paula was also busy delivering and between the five of us we managed to get all the newsletters distributed leaving time for a very welcome orange juice and a biscuit which also appeared from the depths of her trolley.

It was on the 2K run back to the Stadium that the heavens really opened. What can only be described as monsoon conditions absolutely drenched us as we ran down Bradley Mills Lane. However, warm but wet is often fun and we arrived back soaked but satisfied that GoodGym had once again done a good deed for our local community.
