Goodgym Haringey volunteer Sarah was at the St Ann's Food Hub this evening. The hub was set up (by Sarah and others) to provide fruit and veg to local residents at a low (or no) cost. People who can afford it pay £10 for a huge box of fruit and veg packed by volunteers earlier in the day. Those who can't afford it receive a "solidarity" box. The cost of these is covered by a £1 per box contribution from the paid boxes, and voluntary donations from members. Over a year on, it turns out the project may be for life and not just for lockdown, as there are more and more families in need in our community.
Today our supplier had some promotional soft drinks and raspberry jellies left over from something else, so we also had a whole table covered in these! Sarah may have had raspberry jelly for pudding tonight...
