Mrs S had a small front garden put with a wide range of plants packed in. She wanted me to start with the Hedge to trim it back where the gate was so people can get in and out. I then started to tackle a pile of dead branches, cutting them back so I could get them into green bags. A number of residents don't have green bin collections but the council do have some transparent bags that volunteer can leave next to a public bin. I took two filled bags to the high street with a promise to come back and do some more. Mr S was not steady on her feet due to a bike knocking her over but she kept popping out for a chat. We talked about her accident and other health conditions generally, fatigue, the recent food crisis, the government and decision making, volunteering , plant cuttings and other topics. Before I went I helped her open a bottle cleaner she could manage. I left with her in far better spirits and delighted that the gate can now easily be used.
