This morning, JP and Avani (on her first GoodGym mission) met at the All Hallows church hall in Twickenham to help All Aboard set up a giant train set for a play session for neuro-diverse kids.

All Aboard run these sessions mutliple times a week in the local area, providing a safe play space for neuro-diverse children who struggle in regular group play sessions. Many parents find that an All Aboard session is the only activity their child is happy to attend outside of school.

Once we had been briefed, we took a box of track each and started the build. The aim was to fill the court markings on the floor with a large and complex track with no dead ends for the kids to explore and play with. We were up against the clock as the session started at 11am.

Fitting the track together was child's play but there were difficult moments finding the right pieces to connect two sections built by different people. We also added bridges, tunnels, connection points and raised sections to keep the play interesting for the children.

Happily we finished in time and stood back to admire the finished track, before the kids waiting patiently with their parents outside were let in. It was very rewarding to see the joy and excitement on their faces as they fell on a box of trains and carriages and the whole room came to life!
