Top of the Ivy League
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Liverpool.
- Saturday, 1st of February 2020
Mat and Pauline arrived at the home of Mr J to help clear and tidy his garden, so that he may enjoy it once more.
On finding a small, clean, mostly paved front garden, we thought our task would be a very simple one. Apart from a few weeds, the area was clean and tidy.
James soon put us right on that score. After introductions and handing over of gardening tools, we were shown through to the back garden, where ivy (the devil's plant, according to James) and overgrown bushes from his neighbour's had all but taken over.
Without further ado 'Hacker Harrison and Fearless Field got stuck in...pulling, chopping and hacking down the invasive and dreaded plants.
An hour and a half later, having exposed a hidden fence and found a discarded mobile 'phone, we reluctantly had to call it a day. James had a brand new still-in-the -box cordless strimmer, waiting to be used...unfortunately, the battery hadn't been charged. A job for another day, then.
Probably just as well, to be honest. After the January Challenge, Mat and I too, need to recharge our batteries 😁😴

Great effort both, well done!
Mat & Pauline. I am the Service Manager from the Royal Voluntary Service in Liverpool supporting our service users as they leave hospital. You have both done an amazing job and made a massive difference to James and his everyday life. I would like to thank you on behalf of the Royal Voluntary Service and myself & James.
