Team 15
A decent sized team of 15 headed out tonight for a soggy, sociable evening together.
We all met in the rain outside the picturesque Cranbrook Community Food Garden to say hello to one another and form not two but three little groups.
A small team of 5 headed into the garden where Janet and Eileen wasted no time in putting increasingly drenched GoodGymers to work raking leaves, that have accumulated in their piles over the last few weeks. Well done to everyone, for spending the whole drizzly time at this task, and sorry you missed the fitness.
Littersweet Symphony
Meanwhile, the rest of us headed to Meath Gardens in two teams: Leo's gang of runners sped to the gardens, while my group of walkers powered through the backstreets of Bow, making it to the gardens just as the running crew were squeezing in a speedy lap.
Then litter pickers were distributed, gloves donned and bags filled as groups of two spread out all over the huge park, chatting and bagging rubbish, as they enjoyed being productive and together on this rather damp Monday evening.
Monday Motivation
With 20 minutes to spare, we met by The Magical Fitness Tree and again formed two fitness groups: my group remained at the tree while Leo's running took multiple laps of the park. We then switched over, with some doubling up on mileage. And tree split squats.
HUGE HUGE shout-outs
Welcome, welcome to tonight's first time GoodGymers, Julia and Zoe. You did some great work, and we really look forward to seeing you soon.
Thanks to Si, for overseeing the Cranbrook task, and to Heather and Si for some fabulous Cranbrook pics.
And our Task Force were out in full force tonight, including Lieke, Becky and Leo. A massive thank you to Becky for leading some of the second running group, and to our legend that is Leo, who helped prep this evening a long time in advance. It was our first bubbled fitness session, and without Leo we couldn't have done it. A runner and run encourag-er extraordinare, thank you from us all.
And thank you ALL for a great night.
A dark night, lots of rain and a Monday. But you showed up. Putting community before comfort.
