The wrong side for bed
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Tuesday, 24th of November 2020
Dave and JP met up in Wandsworth and after a few minutes of searching and calling Mrs F, finally found the entrance to the apartment block which was hidden away amongst shops and car parks. We arrived to find a multi-level apartment, with an old bed needing to be removed from the top floor. The bed was an old divan-style, with drawers - which had become lodged firmly into the base and were still full of all kinds of odds and ends... so the first part of the challenge was to remove the contents to be sorted later and dismantle the bed. This successfully achieved, we took all the various parts down the 3 short flights and out into the corridor outside the flat. At Mrs F's instruction we brought everything to one end of the corridor, on the rear side of the building where a lift would take us down to a disposal area. Except the lift was out of order and we'd brought everything to the wrong side of the building for an easy and rapid descent to ground level. All was not lost though, as we managed to get everything back over to the other side of the building in double quick time with the help of a shopping trolley, and with a working lift on this side we got everything down and out of the building. Another mission put to bed!
