It all started with such promise last night. After months of dark evening tasks we finally kicked off the session in the light. Was Spring finally here?
No it was not. It all looked fine during our warm up, and just as we were setting off to leave the first ominous drops started.
And then the heavens opened. And they did not close for business again until much, much later. On we persevered, arriving at Kew Bridge to find it looking rather a mess. Luckily we had bin bags, a few litter pickers, gloves and plenty of enthusiasm (at this point).
As usual, plenty of strange objects were found, the ever ubiquitous football and even one whole bike that we couldn't quite fit into our rubbish bags.
There was no respite from the rain and with weather expert Tish informing us that it was set to continue, we gave it one last push and then decided to call it a night on the litter front. Still, we achieved a lot in a short amount of time and the drawdock is looking all the better for it.
We opted to scrap the original fitness plan which involved squidging our way to Turnham Green, and went for a quick balance and coordination session under the cover of the tunnel instead.
Let's hope next week is a drier affair, as we'll be back helping out at Chiswick Community Kitchen Garden. I hope by then you'll have dried off and warmed up ready for some more GG action!
