The sun didn't quite shine but we got Mrs R back online (the washing line, that is!)
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lambeth.
- Saturday, 13th of April 2019
Saturday morning and Sarah and I met up for the second time in ten days ahead of a mission. Mrs R needed us to weed her garden, mostly gravelled over but with quite a few weeds popping up through the black matting underneath. She wanted to be able to reach her washing line again, and to sit outside as the weather gets warmer. Well, we could help! We made quick work of it and Mrs R brought us an excellent cup of tea. We also made friends with the next door neighbour who knew all about GoodGym.
Once finished (5 bags of weeds bagged up) Mrs R came to check out our work. Her face lit up when she saw the change in her garden, "I can't believe it, it looks so much better." And our faces lit up too! We both agreed we hadn't had quite such a warm reaction to a mission in a while <3
With directions for a shortcut from Mrs R we set off and both ran home. A good morning's work all round. I'd also bumped into another Lambeth GGer in the form of James K-B (plus baby) during my run to the task - GoodGym is such an awesome way of feeling connected and part of both our community of runners, and the wider community we help.
