7 inrepid Good Gymers; Claire, Sarah, Izzy, Zdeni, Julie and new members Kate and Hannah (on their very first mission) left the city to travel to the Community Farm at Chew Magna, nearly 10 miles from the centre of Bristol. Some drove, some cycled and Zdeni laced up her trainers and ran there! Once on site we joined in with the seasonal tasks, perfectly pruning the apple trees, (seasonally appropriate) Hoe-hoe-hoe-ing, precision planting chicory and lovingly lifting and trimming leeks for veg boxes. We were sustained by some fantastic homemade vegetable soup at lunchtime and learnt about the history of the project from Angela. After lunch we carried on with the tasks and before the sun went down had learnt the importance of keeping your brassica's warm in winter!
