A warm Pompey welcome to India who joined us for her first GoodGym run after moving to the city on Friday! That's dedication to getting to know your new home, especially with it being one of the longest runs we do.
In news of success we have Rachel, Tim and Jen all with shiny new 5km PBs after the weekend - nice work all! And Angela got to wear the high fashion headwear aka the cap of good deeds as she reached her 50 Good Deeds milestone, look forward to seeing you showing off that black t-shirt soon Angela.
We headed north up to the Lido in two groups and as always the group who got the head start arrived first! Sabrina (birthday girl!) & Des set us to work giving the picnic benches a second coat of paint after we'd got things started with the Enableability group a couple of weekends ago (and we won GG photo of the week that week too - the report is here if you missed it). Judy, Tim & Vicki got scared by the black clouds and moved their bench into the sheltered area but, the sun shines on the GoodGymers and we all stayed dry.
Tony was put to work digging some of the shrubs out of the fountain flower bed ready for repotting - that's one way to avoid getting paint on your trainers! He then lead the majority of the group back to Fratton while Jo finished washing the paint trays and 5 of us were left the challenge of catching up the rest of the group. This resulted in a sprint finish through the alleyway and a lot of heavy breathing at the doors of the community centre, Just a normal Wednesday night then!
In case I haven't mentioned it enough, I'm off on my holidays for the next 2 group runs but you're in the capable hands of Sam for the runs to Baffins next week and Naomi House the following week. There are also community missions: facepainting or spring fayre clear up with Tracy, beach cleaning with Rachel & litter picking with Judy so get those good deeds counted and I will see you on my return.
Happy running and Happy Easter (when it comes)!
