The Achilles International Great Greenwich Get-together
4 GoodGymers made their way to help the Achilles International in Islington.
- Saturday, 4th of November 2023
- Led by Simon Fitzmaurice
Achilles International, the all abilities running charity with a strong visually impaired running chapter in London, organised a special trip to the original Greenwich parkrun in Avery Hill Park near Eltham. This visit was initiated by long time Achilles runner Imran, who is local to this particular parkrun (a free weekly 5km event operated by volunteers).
The parkrun team in Greenwich have been establishing a regular group of guide runners for their frequent VI runners, but had asked if our group running team could come and visit to demonstrate our own tips, tricks and techniques. We are always super happy to promote VI running for all! Such a great turnout for guides and VI runners on the day, especially considering the wet weather leading up to 9am on Saturday- especially to Khalid, our VI running guest who had travelled all the way from Southampton specially for this meet-up! That is some incredible dedication!
Congratulations to all involved- can't wait for the next one!
If you would like to join us to try VI guide running, Achilles International and Goodgym lead a weekly group run session every Thursday at 6pm in two Winter locations. Either Paddington Rec Track or Emirates Stadium - this Thursday we will be at Emirates Stadium!
