That’s certainly a little more than a little bit of litter!
5 GoodGymers made their way to help the The Canal and River Trust in Birmingham.

After heading to tonight's task with the heavens opening, it was a lovely surprise meeting at 1000 Trades with dry skies! We welcomed Chloe, new to Goodgym (signed up just earlier today and got stuck in straight away!) and in-the-know when it came to litter picking and the JQ! Great to have Amy joining us too, after getting a taste of Goodgym tasks over in Coventry before moving to Brum.
After some introductions and catch ups, we headed down to the canal. Thanks to Liam for guiding us on a slightly different route this week, it’s always good to explore and see how the litter is looking on other parts of the canal.
Thanks and congratulations must also go to Liam for reaching 100 good deeds this evening! We’re all sending loads of virtual high fives your way. :-)
After a quick snap with our Goodgym plaque recognising our adopted part of the canal, we headed pretty quickly down to the second main stretch of canal to cover the patch we couldn’t get to last week. There were huge quantities slightly hidden and wedged in foliage and under benches, some skill was needed to pick the bits and pieces out! More and more litter kept appearing from everywhere.
We were glad not to find too many heavy glass bottles this week, lots of cans and lighter objects. Ben saved the day with his extra stash of bin bags which we filled in no time as we cleared a bench area of all sorts.
With the seven(!) bags all filled right to the brim, we headed down to Aston Lock to drop off the bags and for our traditional group bin bag selfie.
We headed back another interesting route, chuffed with our tidying and managing to avoid the rain!
