Table condition
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Friday, 28th of April 2023
On a Friday afternoon before a bank holiday weekend, two GoodGym Yorkers headed to help Mr R move some furniture so that there's space for his wife to come home from hospital.
After I ran from work and Ed cycled along, we met Mr R. We had been briefed that the furniture might be awkward and that there might be another complication, but we were chuffed to discover that only one thing needed moving. So that a Mrs T can come back home to finish her recovery in safety and comfort, a hospital bed is being delivered. So that the hospital bed can be delivered, space needed to be made in the living room.
The main obstacle was the table - already disassembled, but just ruddy heavy! Ed and I tucked it behind the sofa per Mr R's instructions, and he felt confident about doing the lighter bits of the table himself. As such, the task was done in just a couple of minutes.
We had a quick check in with Mr R, as these hospital discharges tend to involve lots of teams and communications flying around, and sometimes it's helpful just to pause and reflect on how it's all going. Mr R seemed okay (just keen to have his wife back home), so we bade him adieu and headed off.
Mission accomplished.
