Sweep Dreams Are Made Of Leaves
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.
- Saturday, 15th of December 2018
Brrrrrr! On a very chilly Saturday morning Patrick and Steve met in a lovely area of Islington to help out Ms E who needed leaves and debris clearing from a large drain outside her house. She had been able to clear it in the past by climbing out the window, but it’s a bit too much for her now.
As she showed us in she explained that all of the decorating work was kicked off because the drain had blocked up, and the water had started to seep in through the lower walls. This isn’t a huge task but as with many GoodGym missions, you can see the difference it’ll make for GoodGym to help Ms E out every now and again.
Alix at HQ had prepped Ms E well, who had a broom and bin bags ready to go. Patrick put on some xmassy choons from his portable speaker and we descended down the iron ladder like taking a summer’s dip into a pool, except this is December and these are leaves.
Over a good chat and catch up, the drain area was swept and leaves bagged up so they can’t be any more trouble. Ms E was really grateful and bid us farewell as we decided to spend the extra time we set aside for a potentially longer mission in a local (warm!) cafe eating eggs and drinking coffee. Wonderful. Tis the season for missions, especially if you can’t commit to coach runs - they make the world of difference to your neighbours at this time of year.
