Super Tramp
6 GoodGymers made their way to help the Crouch End Open Space in Islington.

6 Goodgymmers from all over London made their way to the beautiful Crouch End Open Space this evening (one of our oldest tasks with GG Islington!). A rare weekday evening session (rather than our usual monthly volunteering picnic on a Sunday!), dedicated to shifting a large pile of "hoggin" (ground cover made of clay, sand and gravel), and distributing it onto the wooded public walkways.
We began a production line of filling wheel barrows and spreading the hoggin on the pathways. Trainer Simon and Graham were asked to lay down a few barrows on a set of stairs just beyond our working space too. Becca helped with using a manual tramping tool to flatten the hoggin, while we figured put how to use a petrol driven tramping machine. After consulting a YouTube video, we succeeded it getting the engine working, and took turns to flatten the pathways. Hard work, but very satisfying to see such immediate results!
We packed up after almost 2 hours of work, and were super pleased with the progress we made on this massive task. Well done everyone!
See you next time.
(PS- this is Trainer Simon's 100th run report!)
