Sting in the Trail
5 GoodGymers made their way to help the St Nicks in York.

GG Yorkies went to Heworth Holme to help St Nicks with their weekly volunteering day maintaining the meadow. But more importantly, we all celebrated today as Terrific Tristan* finally returned from his long adventure in New Zealand. We listened in awe as he regaled us with stories about his time down under and were so captivated by his return we forgot we were there to do a task!
Tristan (and the rest of us) was tasked with removing grass that has encroached on GG Yorkies infamous never ending footpath. With spades and mattocks in hand, and the amazing skills of Tristan, we quickly light work of this and then moved on to our next activities. Tristan, with Rich, were busy lopping tree branches that were hanging over the top of the path. I didn't see how the lopping was going, but Tristan was there so I assume it was perfect! The rest of us unimportant people were clearing a space in the meadow by digging up large roots and brambles. The plan for this section is to plant numerous trees so the ground needed to be clear of large roots.
After a good mornings work and a well earned cup of tea, we all had to bid Tristan farewell, but fear not because he will be joining us at Cragside :D
*Yay Tristan's back!
