Spud-u-like
8 GoodGymers made their way to help the Octopus Communities in Islington.

A cracking crew of Goodgymmers from Camden, Barnet, Harringey and Islington groups joined us for a gorgeous evening of potato harvesting tonight. We braved the mighty Highgate slopes on foot and bicycle to meet up with Frannie (Octopus Communities Network) at Shepard's Hill Allotments. Our plan is to gather as much produce as possible for local foodbanks (including Caxton House, a GG Islington task owner).
We split off into two teams- team 1 took to turning soil to prepare the plot for future planting, and to gather up the last our potato crop. Team 2 continued to pull out fresh potatoes and to clear out the excess leaves and shoots from the space. Between us, we started to fill up a few boxes of massive potatoes and tiny baby spuds from the two plots!
Steve Lee informed Trainer Simon that he was completing his 300th task this evening, so Frannie gave him a special task to celebrate- picking fresh apples from the tree in her allotment. We were all treated to a lots of lovely stuff tonight- we had a tea and biscuit break partway through the task, offered by the local residents, and we were welcome to take loads of potatoes and apples back home with us.
We successfully cleared the whole plot of potatoes this evening, and Frannie was thrilled with the progress we made. All being well, we'll certainly look forward to returning to this idyllic green spot in NW London very soon.
