Social Net(!) Work

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.

Oisin and Beth helped Mrs M by taking down her old broken blinds and replacing them with a net curtain to let more light into her kitchen.

I met Beth at the address and we went inside to meet Mrs M and her granddaughter, who had brought along some tools and given us a head-start on the mission, having already taken down the blinds on one side. We set straight to work, taking down the remaining blind and measuring the length of the window, to cut the new curtain wire to size.

While Beth unscrewed the old fixtures, I threaded the net curtain onto the wire and together we attached it to hooks across the window. Mrs M seemed very pleased and I am hoping that having more light coming into the kitchen will help to lift her mood and also save a bit on electricity. Beth headed home and I stayed for a cuppa and a quick chat, before taking the old blinds out to the bins and running home.
