Snip them all

This is more like part two of yesterday's one. I can see a lot more volunteers in City Harvest today than yesterday. So the task was to top up the vegetable crates that we filled yesterday with carrots and parsnips. Take a bag of carrot/parsnip, rip the bag open, and start filling the crates.
It was going fine until the carrots were finished. We had around 50+ crates of bagged parsnips remaining. We were told to fill 35 more crates with parsnips. The task seemed simple. After 10 more crates, I can feel my ripping speed has gone a notch down. I can drill down the tasks as follows
- Get an empty crate(A) and assemble it in the pallet
- Get a loaded crate(B) full of bagged vegetables
- Rip open the bags of parsnips
- Fill the empty crates(A) with parsnips
- Collect the plastic bags into the bin
- Empty the loaded bin into the disposal area
- Get a new bin to put the plastic bags into
- Fold the now emptied crates(B) and assemble them into a place
- Move the emptied crates to another part of the warehouse
- Move the filled vegetable pallet of crates near the delivery area
But as we had a lot of volunteers, everyone was moving around and sharing the tasks and switching things and we wrapped up quicker than usual time and everyone bid goodbyes.
10 minutes into the task I asked my fellow volunteer Lisa "Is someone eating pickles? I can smell pickles". Lisa seemed uninterested and said it was the parsnips. As the air was filled with the sweetness of bananas yesterday. Today it is filled with pickleness of parsnips. If I were to describe it, I would say it smelled salty, tangy, and spicy. Once in a while, a pungent smell came out of nowhere. There were some spoiled parsnips in the mix as well. I never had parsnips before.
Today's experience sealed the fate of me never eating parsnips ever.
