It was lovely to see Kristina from York Council on a lovely and warm evening at West Bank Park. We split into 2 groups of 5 and headed off to our assigned compost heaps. David, Laura and Michal were digging out some of the good compost into bags and then wheelbarrowing them back across the park to the gates where we had met (20 bags in total which David neatly arranged and reckoned weighed around half a tonne). Issy and I turned another compost heap then mounded it all up at one end so that we could then fill the other end with the contents of the heap next to it. The other group were also turning over compost heaps but theirs turned out to be quite a bit smellier than ours! We were more than happy to give them the spades we weren't using as long as we didn't have to join them. We weren't able to do anything about the dog grill this time and there's a lot more compost to shift so we will probably be back at West Bank Park again in the near future.
