1 GoodGymer made their way to help their local community in Oxford.
- Tuesday, 1st of September 2020
- Led by Ben Foster
With COVID cases slowly increasing in Oxford, the GGOxford-signal was deployed and a group of us individually delivered printed letters from the city council to remind locals about physical distancing and the mobile testing unit behind the big Tesco in Cowley. With envelopes packed full of letters to deliver with labelled street names, some braved the wind and rain and others the early morning shopping traffic to make sure the message was spread loud and clear. Thanks to Francesca at the East Oxford Community centre for printing out the letters and organising the deliveries and Anwen for coordinating the GG volunteers.
Although fewer tasks are being carried out as part of Oxford Together (which is now becoming amalgamated into the regular Oxford Hub community work), I am still doing regular/weekly food shops or chippy runs for a young family in Northway with the children at home for the summer holidays. This week, the mum was clearing out a storage cupboard to find more space when I dropped off the weekly staples of break and milk plus diced beef for the evening meal.
