Thirteen lucky runners came out on a balmy Wednesday evening to do some good do-gooding. We congratulated Ian, Ella, Tav, Michelle and Hannah on their 10k success at Alton Water, and Vanessa, Bob, and Louise on their 10k practise run in the scorching heat on Monday. Not only that, but Ella and Bob scored ace new PBs at parkrun! We wished Tav and Ella well for their trip to Bucharest at the weekend, racing with GG abroad, and wished everyone good luck at the Colchester 10k coming up on Sunday. No doubt there will be some awesome medal selfies popping up!!
Then, after some 'overs & unders' and leap-frogging among the daisies as our warm up, we headed off to meet Pam to see what tasks she had for us this evening. On arrival, she split us into task teams - one group sorted seed packets by the shed, load, one group weeded and watered, another group tackled the long grass using shears, and the rest moved oodles of wood and heavy items across the site in order to clear the ground, ready for digging. Everyone did an absolutely brilliant job transforming the area in just 30 minutes, amazing! On the way back to leisure world we did a detour into High Woods country park, and ran a quick lap on the soft grass, up a slight incline to practise our hill running techniques, downhill to practise our (you've guessed it) down hill running techniques, and enjoyed trying out a different surface for a few minutes. It was a peaceful interlude but we didn't hang about, as we were being attacked and bitten by various insects! So, back at Leisure World we did some stretches for our cool-down and acknowledged Tav's heroic efforts in receiving the 'most helpful goodgymer of the night' award. Well done Tav, and thank you! :-)
