It's gotta be done... Phew, what a scorcher!

18 hot and happy runners met up at Vivo gym for what is very likely our hottest run of the year, nay, ever, eclipsing the time we ran to a farm on a hill and had a big bonfire, I think.

Given the temperature was probably skirting the 30 degree mark, I warned everyone to take this longish and hillyish run steady, and am not afraid to admit I walked up a couple of hills towards the end of the run there and the run back. Quite a few people had water and a hat too!

We ran off to Metford Road Allotment where they'd been saving up a variety of tasks for us, but first of all, upon our arrival we were greeted by allotment-holders who'd brought us all manner of drinks including water infused with mint and lemon and also ice cold beers! There were also several buckets of water and I think most of the gang plunged their heads in to cool off.

With almost military precision, our contact at the allotments, Steve, gave us the tasks - digging lumps of concrete out of a bank, lugging some old metal boilers and other water storage containers up to the awaiting skip, being the main ones. We had teams of diggers, barrowers, barrow emptiers, and metal luggers, and the team launched themselves at the task with their usual, if somewhat sweaty, enthusiasm.

The icing on the cake came at the end when we were asked to move a shed... a whole shed. It was one of those cases where it looked like it was going to go all horribly wrong and the shed would plummet down in to the stream at the bottom of the valley, but the GoodGym gang mustered all their strength... and moved it! Admittedly not far but it was a start.

With the task done, the sweaty but lovely crew of runners headed back to Vivo where we all had a good stretch and then I think most people had another cold beer at the Vivo bar!

Top job people!
