An unexpected Mission but incredibly rewarding.
An Email from Gavin, the manager at Chiswick B&Q, offering flowering plants to make the new garden at the Hounslow Mosque look wonderful for the Eid celebrations tomorrow.
So an hastily arranged early evening visit to B&Q , then onward to the Hounslow mosque to deliver and position the plants and help Ruby (and gardener Francois) with some last minute work to prepare the garden for Eid.
It was fantastic to help complete the transformation of the garden area with the addition of B&Q’s flowers, and fascinating to see the Eid preparations with the whole mosque Building bedecked in waterfall lights and the huge car park at the back being transformed into a gargantuan outdoor prayer hall.
A huge thank you to Gavin, Robert and the team at B&Q Chiswick for their help, generosity. Ruby had wanted to fill the garden with flowers and B&Q Chiswick granted her wish.
And serendipity visited again when Ruby and I tried to work out how to make safe the great crater around the tree root (the one that Luis had been digging out on last Sunday’s GG Hounslow Community Mission). The Pallets for the new Bug Hotel provided an ideal combination of hazard cover (over the crater and stump) and extra Seating. We also realised that for many reasons, it would also be the perfect place for the bug hotel.
