Rake ya grass, show me what you working with
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Haringey.
- Saturday, 7th of September 2019
For the second mission in today's double bill with Rupesh, we were scheduled to help Mrs M in Haringey.
A few months ago, Mrs M fell while entering her back garden. Despite recovering well, she's found that her mobility has decreased and she's been unable to tend her garden as much as she'd like. As a result of this, her garden has become very overgrown. GoodGym were asked if they could help out with this.
Arriving at Mrs M's, she gave us a cheerful welcome and some orange juice before we started work. Lovely!
Our main task today was to simply thin out some of the bushes along the borders of Mrs M's garden (and to get rid of any raspberry plants). Despite sounding easy, it was surprisingly difficult to get through it quickly, as we had to keep on checking exactly which plant each intertwined stem belonged to. Rupesh also got diverted by some loppers and an overhanging tree.
Regardless, we worked through what we could, snacked on some chicken skewers, and assiduously documented Rupesh's metamorphosis from antman on our previous mission to Spiderman on this one (what is the deal with the size of that spider btw? What does Haringey put in its water?!). For good measure, Rupesh finished up with a spot of raking.
Like on our previous mission, there's still more to do despite the hour that we spent here. We expressed to Mrs M our hope that more GoodGymmers could return in the near future (and maybe in a group of three! :D), before making our goodbyes and having a brief picnic (missions are hungry work!).
Good seeing you, Rupesh: I'll catch you at GoodGym's 10 year anniversary celebrations this Thursday! 😄🎉

That's a great pun... I wonder if enough GG people know Mystikal for it to win...
Cheers Danny :D Tbh, I'd never heard the original, but I used to love a cover of it during uni that was done in the style of a cruise ship crooner 😄👍
Great work both and lovely report and photos too. Boy that's a spider! :-)
Thanks, Dave - I certainly avoided getting too close to it! :D
