Raining in my Cart...
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Saturday, 6th of June 2020
As requested I called Ms F in advance and we talked through a few of her key requirements on the phone. Ms F needed a mixture of essentials and a few items that would fit into the "comfort food" category, which always makes the aisle search interesting.
Suitably prepared it was back once more to the world's politest supermarket to hunt down the various items on her list - even at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon, I was glad I was able to get most of what she'd asked for - with only a few substitutes. As I stood weighing red grapes, a loud clap of thunder and flash of lightning outside, followed by a massive downpour meant I'd be staying for a while longer amongst the fruit and veg as I hadn't come prepared for a tropical storm.
With the rain easing, it was then follow a route back to Ms F's taking advantage of as much shelter as possible. I was soon back at her front door, damp but not soaked (neither me nor more importantly her shopping thankfully) and we had a good chat about shopping/ volunteering over the past few weeks, where she was extremely grateful to all the GoodGym volunteers that have helped her. With that, it was back out into the rain and homeward bound, avoiding the ever expanding puddles wherever possible.
