Raining, Cats and Jogs!
3 GoodGymers made their way to help the Marsha Phoenix Memorial Trust in Lewisham.

On a very rainy Saturday morning, Sue greeted Emily, Vic and Steve at Marsha Phoenix Trust. A huge welcome to Emily who was attending her very first GoodGym Mission, and straight after Hilly Fields Parkrun, too!
While unloading the tools and tidying up the garden at the front of the building, Sue provided a little bit of history about the trust, which has been supporting young women with sheltered accommodation and support services since the 1980’s. Sybil Phoenix MBE, OBE, MS still lives right across the street from the foundation she established in memory of her daughter.
After a quick tidy up front, we moved everything to the larger back garden, and were guided by Sue on the various tasks to keep everything ticking over nicely during the winter months. Emily and Vic gathered fallen palm fronds and cut back and tidied various plants while Steve and Sue pruned an apple tree and did some weeding.
Soon it was time for a cuppa and a quick break before we were joined by the local grey cat for the remainder of the session, which included a hasty dash to work in the greenhouse while there was another downpour. We all said our goodbyes and headed out to enjoy the rest of our soggy weekends.
