Raiders of the lost ARC
7 GoodGymers made their way 9.3km to help the Arc Centre in Islington.

Area Activator Simon was joined by Katie, Josh and Claire outside the Arsenal Community Hub on Monday evening. Before setting off on our trip over to the lovely ARC Centre in Angel, we performed the classic Goodgym count-off (name, number and "what did you enjoy most about last weekend?"). Our responses ranged from catching up with old friends on Primrose Hill, hiking across London and enjoying the Big Half on Sunday (congratulations to all of our Goodgym runners!). After a warm up on the Emirates slopes, we began our 2 mile jog across town!
This time, we decided to change up our usual running route by passing through Compton Terrace Gardens, and passing Union Chapel on our way to Essex Road, and down to Packington Street. Upon our arrival, we met with Susan, one of the excellent coordinators at the ARC Centre, and we quietly explained our task for the evening (while keeping our voices down for the Mysore Yoga class being led next door!).
Two weeks ago, our Goodgym crew helped with moving a huge amount of equipment and gardening kit from a spare room, and into an unused toilet block to allow the space to be used for an upcoming event. This week, we were tasked with re-organising the ARC Centre's portable tool and gardening shed- a former horse box, converted into a storage spot. Josh, Claire and Caitlin cracked on with carefully moving all of the contents of the horse box out and on to the side of the pavement, ready to be arranged. Hose pipes, wheel barrows, endless plant pots and tools were brought out throughout the evening.
Benedict and Charlotte also helped with checking to see if any of the office equipment from our last visit could be comfortably added to the horse box, without blocking the access point- additional pipes, wooden stakes and willow branches were added. By the end pf the evening, we had created loads more space in the box, and had made them most frequently used tools easily accessible for Will, Damien and all of the community gardeners near Packington and Canalside gardens.
Wonderful work everyone! Our run crew made their way back to The Emirates in good and ample time, and enjoyed a trip to Highbury Fields on route.

Last minute task- Memorial Garden Lifting and Shifting task at Grenville Gardens
Area Activator Simon will be helping the volunteers at Grenville Gardens on Tuesday 6th September (6pm) with moving some soil for the flower beds surrounding the community gardens.
We received the sad news that one of our frequent task owners, Sarah Roth, passed away recently. The team are planning on getting the garden ready for special event to commemorate her.
Any assistance would be hugely appreciated!
