Sunny day, so I walked from my home to St John's Church to start my 1st shift at Ealing Soup Kithchen. On arrival, I noticed that the kitchen was assaulted by the RAF : 4 service men in the kitchen today cooking for our guests later. As I arrived a little early, I started putting tables up in the service area and main lounge for the clothing section, moving the pool table for the games, preparing the tea area with hot and cold drinks, cakes and muffins., laying protection on the extra serving area as carpet section. Kash messaged me earlier to mention that another goodgymer would join me. Chikako arrived and I welcomed her then did a tour of the different areas and introduced her to the team and find out which tasks Chikako would be assigned too. Chikako was assigned to the grocery bag section to start and started doing bags with the other volunteers to be given out after 1pm. I managed the tea service until 12:30 then moved to my usual service area and served meals to our guests. The RAF crew had a great menu for the guests. Menu : Starter was vegetable soup. Main course was either beef or veggie lasagna with salad and garlic bread. Desserts : choice of chocolate brownie, sponge cake or peaches in syrup.
Chikako was then assigned to the kitchen once the grocery service was over and she helped cleaning the dishes. Many compliments made to the RAF for the food. At the end if shift one, Chikako left, but I carried on as I was signed up for the 2nd shift.
