Ggman and the quaran-tinned
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Hounslow.
- Wednesday, 29th of April 2020
Very wisely, Mr ad Mrs A had been self-quarantining for some time, and they were not going to let some toilet paper shortage jeopardise all that effort. Instead they asked for help by sending the GoodGym-signal.
At the other end, GGman was ready to to step up.
The mission was starting as early as 11:00, but that was no obstacle for GGman. Who rushed out of the door as soon as he realised it was 10:45. With an empty stomach, an unbrushed mouth and two unmatching shoes, GGman cursed his way to Mr and Mrs A's residence.
- Hello Mrs A! I am GGman, and I am here to help you with your shopping! May I say you look splendid today? - said GGman, with a wide smile and looking awkwardly to the side, since he noticed his breath had been killing flies all the way from home.
The shopping list was very precise, full of items GGman was not familiar with, and had to be googled on the way to the supermarket using a dying phone. This added some extra time pressure, but GGman thrives under pressure. He managed to work out the entire list before arriving to the shops, having stepped only on two dog fouls (one per shoe), and only banging his head against three lamp posts, as many others were successfully avoided thanks to his super-senses.
Once in the shop, and following the orders of the voice in his head, Zed, GGman went methodically through each item in reverse alphabetical order. Unfortunately, the supermarket's one way system made that incompatible with efficiency, and after lapping all the aisles for the third time, GGman had to use his super-will-power to avoid smashing the trolley against the watermelons. Another everyday victory for GGman!
After a total of seven laps, GGman's shoe soles were totally clean, and with all the items in the basket, he was ready for self-check-out. The queue was enormous, but conscious that Mrs A had been waiting for her shopping for a good two hours, GGman used his super-cough to make his way through it, as well as his super-concentration to ignore the shouts and insults around him. There's no obstacle GGman cannot overcome!
GGman left the shops, with two heavy bags of groceries and the satisfaction of another mission close to completion. Nevermind the long way back under the rain and the wind gust. Knocking on Mrs A's door with the much needed shopping was worth being hungry, cold, wet, and the three bruises in the forehead.
Hello Mrs A. - said GGman, with a wide smile and looking awkwardly to the side, since he noticed his breath was ripening the apples in the fruit section - here you have your shopping. The receipt and the change are in the bag.
Thank you very much. - she responded while checking goods. Then she frowned - But the squash is orange. I am intolerant to orange.
