Pun In The Sun
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Sunday, 10th of November 2019
On a day that defied the recent gloom with clear sunshine and crisp blue skies, Amanda and Steve arrived at Mrs D’s home to help her out on this Spectacular Sunday.
Mrs D was lovely from the get-go, with a swift offer of a cuppa while we started clearing the back garden. Her patio had become a playground for weeds, and we quickly set to work on our tidy task. Mrs D struggles to do this kind of work, and was really thankful.
Amanda and Steve traded stories on our respective GoodGym areas (mostly Hackney, Islington and Camden), commiserated each other on our recent post-GG-Pritesh-farewell-as-social-secretary hangovers, and talked about the GoodGym Race Team, the Big Six races we organise each year, and Saturday’s Cross-Country competition.
Before we knew it, we had filled the council garden waste bag, cleared the patio and swept it clean, rehoming some charming earthworms in the process. Mrs D was really happy, as was her adorable pooch who kept us from leaving for a good five minutes. Amanda departed running, and Steve cycling, both with that post-mission glow. Want that glow too?
