Peanuts & Bolts
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Monday, 8th of May 2023
Kash and Sevan arrived for their second mission of the day in central London. They were within throwing distance of Covent Garden, which was a first for them.
This mission was both one of the best and worst tasks, building flat pack furniture. In this case 2 sets of shelves or bookcases. This type of task was rewarding when you had a successfully built thing, yet oh so frustrating when trying and failing to follow the instructions.
Kash and Sevan managed to make all of the possible mistakes while building the shelves. Having the base of the shelves up side down? Check! Having the metal legs the wrong way around? Yup, that too! After fixing the legs, realising that the shelves were back to front? Bingo! Despite the frustrations, they did manage to build one full set and construct the wooden shelves for the second set, ready for another GoodGym visit to complete the job.
The beneficiary had one extra task for them to do. While Sevan was tidying up plastic bags and hundreds of bits of static-y polystyrene, Kash was hauling 25kg of peanuts up to the first floor. At least, that was the plan, but Kash wanted more weight training, so carried them to the second floor before discovering her mistake. The peanuts and shelves were delivered a bit later than expected to a very pleased beneficiary who sent them off with a cheery "I've got more shelves coming".
