Path Wars: The Garden Awakens
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Thursday, 31st of August 2017
Two GG runners, Sarah and Gosia, met up in Southwark this evening to help out Ms S in clearing up a pathway to her home.
Ms S welcomed us with a big smile on her face, then quickly explained the task and her main concerns. She is an owner of a great, spacious garden but the health doesn't allow her to spend as much time on taking care of it as she used to do. Her front garden is really overgrown now, to the point that it was not safe for her when leaving and entering the home.
From the first sight, we knew that space requires a lot of work but for this particular visit we put the top priority on dealing with the green intruders conquering the path to the front door. We were lucky to get a decent set of tools from Ms S which helped massively in dealing with the aggressors - mostly weeds, fallen leaves and also few bushes that needed a proper trim.
We also started the fight with the ivy growing near the door to the backyard but the task was too big to finish it this time. Although - we definitely made a nice start.
Throughout the visit, we could hear a neighbour practising playing on a flute. This was just a perfect tune for the gardening!
Ms S was very pleased with the outcome of our work, delighted that she can see her front door nice and clear again (yay!). We've suggested her to follow up with GG team to plan another visit, as there is still plenty to do, the odyssey continues!
