I had a lovely time this morning volunteering with Sophie's Legacy charity: https://www.sophieslegacy.co.uk/about who were collecting for their Snack boxes for a couple of local hospitals. After meeting Lynne and setting up the table and banner, we grabbed a trolley ready to collect the donations. The snack boxes form part of one of Sophie's legacies to feed parents who need to stay with their sick children in hospital, but have no access to hospital food. People were very generous today both with food donations and money in the collection box. We soon had many bags filled with crisps, biscuits, lots and lots of savoury pot noodles, cereals - anything that would be easily accessible when needed - a list of suggested donations was handed out to help. I met some new people whose Employer allowed them to take time from work to volunteer, which also gave me the opportunity to do some Goodgym promotion at the same time. Having packed everything into bags as the trolley filled up, Ken, the man with a van came to collect everything at the end of the session. We said our goodbyes as we left to enjoy the still sunny weather, well wrapped up against the cold.
